If you try, just a little, you’ll find train related activities year round.
Spring: You have rainy days to spend in the basement, playing with, or working on the layout and projects. Flea markets and garage sales are starting to pop-up, you never know what train related items you may find. There may even be a left-over train show (swap meet) around and, of course, the huge TCA show in York Pa happens every April.
Summer: More flea markets and garage sales. Visits to outdoor railroad museums, tourist train rides, trolley museums, etc are fun stop-offs on road trips.
Fall: Still more flea markets, etc and train shows, including fall York in October. Now is also the time to keep an eye out for nice dry weeds, etc that could very well wind up on the layout as wonderful trees and bushes.
Winter: Full swing running trains and working on the layout. Time for cleaning and lubricating trains, and cleaning track, can now be found. There is a train show or layout open house (private or club) almost every week now. Invite the guys to see and run trains on your layout. Set up that Christmas Tree loop!

Most of all – have fun!
John

Just a couple of weeks ago I visited the D-Day Museum, Omaha Beach and the American Cemetary in Normandy. The bravery of those that fought, despite terrible odds, was unbelivable.

We tend to use World War I, World War II and the Korean war as time frames for toy train production, and, yes, World War II put a temporary stop to toy train production, and Korea had us loosing Magnetraction for a year or two.

Let’s never forget those that sacrificed, or who are currently sacrificing, for our freedom and safety. Today let’s take at least a moment to pray for and honor our Veterans. Everytime we see a Vet let’s take a moment to thank them for their service.
God Bless each and every one of them.
John

Well, a couple months ago I received a call from the Lionel Operating Train Soceity complementing me on this website and asking if I would write an article for their Switcher magazine. I advised that I would be happy to but I have not been a member of LOTS for a number of years. They reinstated me and I wrote the article, which just appeared in the December issue of the Switcher – you can find it in the Articles section of this website.

The site has also been updated with some Christmas Standard gauge pictures .

Enjoy and Merry Christmas,
